Hero Stories for Military Bracelets

First box of books to the 467th.

What a bargain! I put out the word to friends and neighbors that I was sending books to the 467th in Afghanistan. Well, it didnt take long to get a LOT of books. I probably got 100lbs or more of books or more. Great books too. Not faded old paperbacks. Then I got to worrying about the shipping cost. I went online and found the form I needed to fill out to send to an APO and filled it in. Then we used the calculator to figure out shipping cost. Scared the heck out of me. I was looking at sever...

Sending books to the 467th.

A couple weeks back, we were fortunate enough to meet the 467th at Fort Hood, following the terrible shooting that claimed 5 of their members. During our visit, I talked quite a bit with MAJ Laura Suttinger and in the conversation, she mentioned that they love getting their hands on books on the deployment. Well, they headed out to Afghanistan last week and I put out a call to friends and neighbors for books. Got a great bunch of really good books dropped off. Well, just heard from the Major ...

A Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I ...

People wearing your memorial bracelets.

Dear Herobracelets folks, I was shopping last week and the gentleman in front of me at the checkout line was wearing a black bracelet with a name on it. I asked him about his bracelet and he explained to me that he bought it to remember his nephew, who was killed in Afghanistan. We were both pretty moved and, I have to admit, I started to get pretty emotional. I'm sure people around the checkout line were wondering what was going on. Two people who had never met were on the verge of tears and...

Barack Obama wearing a Memorial Bracelet

Barack Obama wearing a Memorial Bracelet We heard from several people that Barak Obama is wearing a HeroBracelet. We’ve not seen it up close, but it does look like a HeroBracelet. This was on the Fox News Web site. —————– Barack Obama is wearing a wristband in memory of a soldier killed in Iraq, given to him by a mother who said she wants the Democratic presidential candidate to keep others from dying. Tracy Jopek of Merrill, Wis., gave Obama the bracelet at a rally Friday night in Green Bay,...
